You wake up from a cryogenic chamber inside a spaceship, you realize you are alone in the ship and there is an ongoing infection of an unknown organism (fungus/plant), that spreads with tendrils/tentacles. You have to get to the escape pods to leave the ship, and you only have a UV flashlight to make it retreat and open a way to escape.

Bioluminiscence when you shine light at it?

If you touch the infection your screen starts to go black, if it goes fully black you die. If you step away from it you recover.

Style: PSX first/third person. Dark atmosphere inside a dead spaceship, only emergency lights and your flashlight. The infection avoids illuminated areas. Simple classic space horror.

Gameplay loop: Simple mechanics, no combat, horror game. Get from the cryo chamber to the escape pods. Find keys to advance, or have to take alternate routes (vents…).

Technical challenges:

·Spread system (decals/hidden meshes progressively appearing, the whole infection a single mesh with proceduraly appearing alpha through second uv channel/complex shader - raymarching or SDFs)

·”Retreat” system when shining UV light at the infection

·No real replayability so the level must be interesting/long enough for a demo
